Instructions for acclimating new shrimp

  1. Check for DOA (Dead-On-Arrival)
Before you start, check the bag carefully for dead shrimp.
  2. Prepare a clean container Place a bowl or cup (enough to hold 3 to 4 liters of water) This should be cleaned with water only! (so no vinegar or soap!)

  1. Use an air hose
Tie a loose knot in the tube. Not too tight – the water should still be able to drip through.
  2. Place the tube
    • One end of the hose goes into the aquarium.
    • The other end hangs above the cup with the shrimp.
  3. Start the drip method
Gently suck on the end of the tube to allow the water to flow.
Let the water drip slowly (about 1–2 drops per second) into the container.
  4. Let this take at least 30 minutes
Keep an eye on the water level. If it gets too full, scoop some water out.
  5. Transferring shrimp
Use a shrimp net (recommended) to transfer them to the aquarium.
Or carefully pour everything, including the water, into your aquarium.
  6. Observe the behavior
Shrimp may be a little skittish or active at first. This is normal.
The longer you acclimatize, the better they will get used to your water values.
  7. Feed in moderation
Don't overfeed. Shrimp eat biofilm, algae and waste in the aquarium.
Supplementary feed with proteins, minerals and fibres helps them stay healthy and reproduce.
  8. Enjoy your shrimp!
Take the time to observe them – they are fascinating little creatures.
